About Alison

Meet Alison Gitelson

“When senior managers get it ‘right’ it filters all the way down”

Alison combines her extensive, practical, business background with a deep understanding of human behaviour. This rare combination allows her to blend human needs with business needs.

She says “When senior managers get it ‘right’ it filters all the way down. Every staff member then has the opportunity to bring the best of themselves to the workplace and to enjoy their hours at work, whilst collaborating to create a productive, profitable environment resulting in a healthy economy for all.”

Alison’s unique background spans careers in optometry, ICT, transformation, project management and leadership development. She has earned an SABS Design Award, contributed to published papers, spoken to international audiences and been interviewed on TV and radio.

Her successful management track record includes increasing her strategic business unit’s revenue threefold at Capital Software and successfully delivering (with her team) multiple key components of the nationwide Siyakha transformation project at SARS.

In 2005 Alison realised that her success as a leader-manager could be used to bring about a change in the quality of leader-management throughout South Africa. And CanBeeDone was born.

Alison hates to see abilities, time, effort or resources wasted. She enables leader-managers to build on their strengths, adding key tools and skills, and increasing their insight, to bring about real changes in their behaviour, and that of their direct reports and teams: changes that increase productivity, quality and profitability.

As a consultant Alison is strategic and creative; cutting through the clutter to the heart of the issue.

As a master facilitator she develops leaders and high performing teams, resolves conflict, uncovers the wisdom in the room and enables each person to grow. Her transformative, practical, interactive and experiential workshops are very popular as part of customised programmes, as well as at conferences locally and overseas.

As a speaker she is energetic and captivating, informative and inspiring.

Alison’s community work has included being a radio operator, a librarian, a counsellor for people with brain injuries, and most recently brokering peace between opposing forces.

In 2015 she co-founded Open Community Encounters, an initiative to improve tolerance, communication and healing among South Africans.

Alison lives on the shores of the Vaal Dam in South Africa where she can bird watch, dance, parkrun and still visit the Bush.
